Meals

Three daily meals are included in the cost for the duration of the course, however participants will need to cover any meals outside the course period and any snacks. (Street vendors close to both sites whip up tasty Ugandan snacks that are definitely worth trying for a nominal cost). Participants with specific dietary needs will need to notify the course organisers prior to course commencement and may need to bring any additional food items that they require.
Meals will be cooked onsite and will be predominantly local fare sourced from the onsite gardens and markets. You’ll have the opportunity to learn how to cook and savour the nation’s staples – matoke (cooked plantain bananas), posho (cooked maize meal), bijanjalo (beans) and g-nut sauce (peanut sauce). Participants will be required to assist with cooking during the course on a rostered basis.
